Wednesday brought crisp skies and a packed schedule as Centre and Court One hosted the first wave of quarter-finals. It was a day defined by tension, tiebreaks, and the kind of margins that only Wimbledon can deliver.

Belinda Bencic rides nerve to historic semi-final

Belinda Bencic booked her place in a Wimbledon semi-final for the first time, outlasting teenager Mirra Andreeva 7–6(3), 7–6(2). Despite playing with a cracked toenail and enduring a late challenge from the young qualifier, Bencic held firm in both tiebreaks, showing poise under pressure. The win marks her first major semi-final since 2019, and confirms her return to top-level form following motherhood and injury setbacks.

Jannik Sinner steers past Shelton to reach last four

Jannik Sinner showed no lingering signs of his earlier elbow injury as he dispatched Ben Shelton 7–6(2), 6–4, 6–4. The first set was closely contested, but once Sinner took control in the tiebreak, he never looked back. His clean ball-striking and unflappable demeanour kept Shelton at bay, and the Italian now returns to the semi-finals for the second year in a row.

Novak Djokovic edges through after early wobble

Djokovic’s clash with Flavio Cobolli began with a surprise: the young Italian claimed the first set in a tiebreak. But Djokovic reasserted himself quickly, closing out the next three sets 6–2, 7–5, 6–4. While not flawless, it was vintage Djokovic when it mattered—cool-headed in big moments and relentless from the baseline. The result sets up a semi-final rematch with Sinner.

Swiatek and Anisimova join final four

Iga Swiatek secured her first ever Wimbledon semi-final with a straight-sets win over Liudmila Samsonova. Although the second set saw some resistance, Swiatek’s serve and timing held strong as she closed it out 6–2, 7–5. Earlier, Amanda Anisimova had held off a resurgent Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in a tense 6–1, 7–6(9) win—saving multiple set points in the second to book her first Wimbledon semi-final.

As the sun set over SW19, the semi-final picture became clear: Djokovic v Sinner on one side, and Swiatek, Bencic, Anisimova, and Sabalenka battling for the women’s crown.
